Fruit Punch for 24 (Non-Alcoholic)

1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
1 qt grape juice
juice of 6 lemons
juice of 6 oranges
crushed mint leaves
1 qt ginger ale
1 qt soda water
1 pt ice water
Boil sugar in 1/2 cup water until dissolved. Cool and mix fruit juices with mixture and mint. Let stand for one hour. Strain into large punch bowl and add ginger ale and soda water just before serving. Dilute with ice water if necessary and serve with crushed ice.
