Apple Nut Bread

1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup grated apple
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F. Cream together shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and beat well. Add in apple and mix well. Mix together dry ingredients (except nuts) and add. Add in chopped nuts and mix well. Spray loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray or grease pan. Pour mixture into pan and bake for approximately one hour or until top is golden brown and a toothpick or cake tester comes out clean.
