Cheese Apple Scones

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp white sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup apple, peeled and diced
Combine dry ingredients. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles cornmeal. Stir in buttermilk until moistened. Fold in shredded cheese and apple. Turn onto floured surface. Knead 10 times. Put into 9" circle and cut into 8 wedges. Separate and place on prepared baking sheet. Bake at 450 F for 12-15 minutes. Serve with Pure Labrador fruit spreads.
