All Day Dark Fruit Cake

Total Time: More than 1 hour

1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp cloves
2 1/2 cups water
2 cups raisins
1/2 cup butter
1 cup dates
1 cup each red and green cherries
1 cup dried mixed fruit
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp rum extract
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
Bring to a boil brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, water, raisins and butter. Let boil for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and add dates, cherries, mixed fruit and extracts. Cool for at least 6 hours. Preheat oven to 310°F. Combine flour and baking soda. Add to mixture. Place in a bundt or tube pan and bake for 2 1/2 hours.
