6 beef bouillon cubes
6 cups hot water
5 cups onion, thinly sliced
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp sugar
1 tbsp flour
Dissolve beef cubes in six cups of hot water. Sauté onion in butter or margarine until golden. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, sugar and flour; add beef cube mixture. Cover and simmer for three to four hours. Serve in bowls topped with croutons and Parmesan cheese. (This soup is best cooked in a slow cooker or crock-pot for about 6 to 7 hours.)
